You can start working as a Medical Assistant after 9 months while continuing your classes to complete the degree. Our associates level degree course is designed for immediate employment opportunities and includes preparation for the Certified Medical Assistant national exam.

Our 900-hour MA certification program covers all core Medical Assisting skills and allows you to skip general education courses required for the AAS degree. MA Course & Degree Description
Join our Associate of Applied Science Degree in Medical Clinical Assisting Program, a comprehensive 1260-hour / 54-week course. The program includes 875 hours / 40 weeks of theory and practical classes, followed by 225 hours / 10 weeks of General Education (GE). Afterward, you’ll complete a 160-hour / 4-week clinical externship, applying your classroom knowledge in a real-world setting. The RCI Medical Clinical Assisting Program is 900 hours which does not include GE courses.
Upon graduation, you’ll be equipped to handle both front and back-office medical assisting duties, ready for immediate employment.
We offer an exclusive 2-In-1 course bundle option, available only to RCI students. This unique bundle combines your Medical Assistant Degree with Phlebotomy and EKG Certificates, providing you with a versatile skillset. By taking this bundle, you’ll have the opportunity to include our State and Nationally Certified Phlebotomy training course and National Electrocardiograph with intro Holter Monitor training. Successful completion of the 2-In-1 program earns you three state and nationally recognized certificates in Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy (CPT1), and EKG.

RCI offers an extensive externship program for all Medical Assisting students. In addition to classroom instruction, RCI students will complete their MA Certification program as externs in a professional healthcare facility (e.g., hospital, medical clinic, etc.), gaining hands-on practical training on real patients under the supervision of professionally trained staff.
Students are required to complete 160 hours of clinical experience during which they will work with a preceptor to acquire the training needed to become successful Medical Assistants. Our externship instruction will give you the opportunity to apply the practical skills you’ve learned in the classroom to a real-world professional medical healthcare setting. You will work with actual patients under the supervision of experienced medical healthcare professionals.
In order to ensure that applicants meet the entry level requirements for training that will lead toward certification, we require certain documentation for students enrolling in our MCA/MA course. You must be 18 years old or above AND
A copy of ONE of the following documents is required:
High School Diploma: A high school diploma and transcript from an institution in the United States of America to be provided by the applicant
General Education Diploma (GED): Passing verification from certifying agency to be provided by applicant
